A Plan Is a Good Thing to Have

The national health authority in Germany....laid out the Corona-19 vaccination strategy today...for both state and federal governments.

It begs for questions though.

In their mind....roughly 4,000 Germans would be able to get vaccinations in each center....PER DAY.

Then they said that 100 doctors are required for each center.

How many centers would exist?  They weren't that clear....but one would think it would be one per district (county).  If so, then 401 vaccination centers would exist.

Why 100 doctors per center?  Throughout all my years in the Air Force....NOT a single vaccination was done by a doctor....they were all done by nurses.  Maybe it was a misunderstanding on the news medias part....maybe they mean 99 medical technicians....led by one single doctor.

So you do the math....100 technicians lined up and their strategy is 40 vaccinations over a 8-hour day, with lunch somewhere in the middle, and probably two smoke-breaks.  So you'd be doing a total of five vaccinations per hour?  Air Force technicians would openly brag that with someone doing the stamp on the records, and things lined up....they could 'shoot' thirty folks an hour.....so this suggestion by the national authority doesn't make much sense.

The math here?  1.6-million people a day....so you complete this in ten weeks (not working on weekends)....if the supply was there.  So if you started in late December....it could all be done by early March, period.

The one thing I tend to always appreciate about Germans?  They plan things out to the 99th degree.  Over-planning?  Well....yeah, they do that too.

So some of this chatter makes sense.....some leads to more questions.

My issue?  Well....if I show up and there's 700 folks in front of me, and I can see the shot operation (needles and all) taking place....I'll get a faintish about 8 minutes into this and collapse on the floor.  Maybe 30 of these technicians are there just for us faintish guys....having nothing to do with the vaccinations themselves.
