Germany and Covid-19: 15 November 2020

1.  N-TV discussed this curious item about the Corona App being pushed by the German government.  Right now, roughly 50-percent of society have downloaded it and currently use it.  Around 44-percent of Germans have NOT downloaded the App, and openly admit they aren't interested in using it.

Four percent of those in this study said they had loaded it....then deleted it later (differing reasons).

More development likely to come?  That's the general belief over the App.  I would suggest that for all of 2021, and probably going into 2022....it'll still be part of the big agenda for the government on controlling the spread of the virus.

2.  The anti-ban-rule protest in Frankfurt yesterday (Saturday) got fairly violent.  The protest crowd did not follow the route suggested, and the police quickly brought in one water cannon to move them on.  Total in this entire protest?  Based on video from HR (public TV)....I'd say it was between 600 and 900.  But added to this....another group (pro-ban, or at least they suggest that)....probably in the 200 range.

3.  The new daily infection number?  16,391, for Saturday evening, over the past 24 hours.

4.  Bremen started a city program....10 free masks for senior citizens, free....each month.

5.  A story being passed around in Germany is that the Chinese were checking out beef imports at the port (from Argentina), and they had Covid-19 on the meat items.  Some discussion going on....that Covid survives longer in harsh cold temperatures.

6.  The handling of this new vaccine by Biontech....has some curious logistical issues.  After manufacturing it....it has to be kept at minus-70 degrees (C).  Most regions don't have the freezer units to fulfill this requirement.  So there's a discussion underway....to purchase such freezer units.

Once created, it's also discussed that it has to be 'given' within six months (limited shelf life).

Where would the vaccine materials be stored?  Well, this got interesting too.  Bavaria has openly said that the storage bulk site....will be secret (Bavarian 'super-secret' if you prefer, that means that 1,500 people will know the location).  Brandenburg said they'd just store it at some regional police station (lock and key I assume).  All of this is leading toward some odd arrangement where the vaccine has to be guarded.

Robbery intent?  Well....it's just odd how this has been explained.  I assume that some mafia folks, Arab-crime gangs or KGB agents are out there to steal a truckload of the vaccine....by what these people are discussing.  It wouldn't surprise me if over a thousand Bundeswehr soldiers are detailed out as guards for the vaccine around the country.

7.  Finally, weird new law in Denmark over Covid-19.  Once the vaccine is issued out...there would be ways in this law to identify people who 'must' get the vaccine (unknown how they mean this), and that the police would have some special power to detain people (holding them).....until they comply.

Protests?  Yes....started yesterday.

The idea that it will spread?  Well....no one in Germany has said that everyone will comply and take the vaccine.  The anti-vaccine crowd?  Unknown, but I would imagine at least 10 percent of German society refusing the vaccine.  I don't see the government authorities just 'accepting' this.
