Robbery Story

Up in Emmerich (NW Germany)....a break-in got into the top five news items of the day.

This apparently occurred around the 1st of November, and they didn't want to admit much of anything...until this morning.

The action? Well....these guys figured out that the local Zollamt (customs office) had several million Euro there...in their vault.  Amount?  They say 6.5-million Euro.

Job done professionally?  Yes.  Insider info?  After you read through the various account (Focus had the better description).....it just seems like someone in the office had to know of the amount they kept there, and given it to the right people.

Witnesses?  Well...various people actually said they heard the drilling start up around 6 AM, and then about four hours later....three guys walked out with bags.  Beyond that....no real description.

The three got into a white van with Kleve tags.  Cops will probably go down the listing of white vans in the Kleve area (population of 52k).  White van description?  Who knows....it might be 500 in the local region.

The guys still in Germany?  I would question that idea.  This being cash....various bills....I'd quietly leave Germany.

Here's the thing though....why would the Zollamt maintain some cash amount of 6.5-million Euro in their vault?  Zero reason.  You would think that every single day....they'd have some pick-up arranged and never keep more than 100k Euro in their vault.
