Madrid Story

So there's a great piece over at Focus this morning, which I strongly recommend a read.

The emphasis?  Covid-19 numbers (for infections) in Madrid....which were at seriously high levels three months ago....have now started to spiral downward.  In fact, they have reopened the restaurants and bars, and it appears that almost nothing is triggering movement up on the 'scale'....UNLIKE Germany at present.

Logic or reason?  Unknown.

Some people think that the antigen tests (rapid in nature) are the central theme.  Madrid went spent a fair amount of city money on the tests.....getting roughly 5-million test kits.

But beyond that?  City parks are still closed.  Curfew in the city is set for 10 PM, so folks might go and socialize a bit (having a beer or two), then head home at 10 PM.  The suggestion that the events of July and August got everyone hyped-up and they are fairly serious about masks?  Well, that plays into this discussion as well.

I have two daughters in Madrid so I also follow the situation there. This article is interesting too.

Interesting article but it still leaves a lot to wonder about. One key thing about Spanish society in major urban areas (Barcelona is another good example)....Spaniards like to socialize to a huge extent. Spain is not Spain, without the meeting places (clubs and bars), social chat (in actual person), and face-to-face relationships.

Back in August, there was a story being discussed....the suggestion (with some data supporting it) that one-third of Spain had antibodies...which means that they had Covid-19 (probably a large segment with marginal symptoms). If you tacked on 90 days and more marginal symptom Covid....maybe it's near two-thirds of folks with the anti-bodies in their system now.
