Germany and Covid-19: 14 Nov 2020

 1.  My local town (Wiesbaden) is putting up a new ban rule....there's an entire area of town now....basically the downtown shopping district, where masks are required even in outdoor situations....24 hours a day.

2.  Newly infected in past 24 hours, within Germany? 24,686.  Another death reported in my local town.....now making it 39 since day one.  If you review the numbers....within the past week, six folks have died.

3.  The head guy of the anti-ban business in the Herborn region (Hessen)....was sent off to a mental clinic (committed by a judge).  It would appear that comments made by this guy convinced the judge that he was unstable.

4.  The Bavarian Red Cross is reporting a shortage of ambulances.  So if you go through the whole article piece (Focus)....it's because there are ambulances being used to transport Corona patients, and these episodes take longer (cleaning out the vehicle after the run, and getting in/out of the Hazmat suits).

5.  The Netherlands announced yesterday that all fireworks typically used for 31 December evening (a normal habit in Germany as well)....will be banned.  Reason?  They say they don't have medical crews (ambulances) in abundance for the 'accidents'. The odds that this will occur in major German cities?  I'd give it a 50-50 chance.  The curious thing....there are tons and tons of fireworks on their way (by ship) to German ports, and to be delivered in six weeks to German grocery stores.  It'll be curious if the Germans go this route to ban the fireworks, and how they compensate the stores.

6.  Biontech, the German company out of Mainz, that will produce the first batch of Covid-19 vaccine....says in a statement from late yesterday.....very early in 2021....it'll be released and vaccinations will start up.  At least three additional companies are producing a virus vaccine....they aren't talking about a release date yet (meaning it has to be at least three months away minimum).

7.  I watched a piece from N-TV news this morning....majority of companies aren't that positive over home-office type work, and don't believe it's that productive (this is the companies speaking, not the employees).

8.  N-TV had another piece which is curious.  Hospital administrators and doctors are in conflict around Germany.  There is an enormous cost factor for handling each Covid-19 patient brought in, and normal budget rules set up....isn't really helping the hospitals in the economic sense.  So doctors believe that artificial limits are put into place....limiting the inflow of Covid-19 patients to the hospitals.

It appears that some type of political meeting will have to occur, with the government 'upping' the pay-scale on Covid-19 type situations, if the patient goes into the hospital.
