Finland and Covid-19

There was a good article written up by Focus today, which noted that right now....Finland has the least amount of Covid infection....of any EU state.

Reason?  It's not entirely clear.

The Finns did a lock-down period in March (for 2 months).  They even imposed a pretty harsh rule....you couldn't enter or leave from Helsinki (the capital itself).

In fact, the Finns said this one odd thing after the lockdown....one out of four Finns said that the lockdown made their lives 'better'.  They didn't say that they were happier, or thrilled....they just simply said within this one group (a quarter of the population) that they felt better.

The economy after the shut-down?  Well....it's down around 6-to-7 percent. Not bad, but not great.

A couple of years ago, I went and spent a week in Finland.  It's one of the more unusual places that I've been.  I admit....I didn't travel out into the rural areas, and centered my week on Helsinki.  It's an expensive place and by the end of the trip....I got the impression that Finns are 'restrained' (they live comfortable but quiet lives).  If you were looking for excitement or an action-packed week in a major urban area....you weren't going to find it there in Helsinki.

Maybe after the lock-down....that two months of time served as a sabbatical of sorts.

All of this getting Germans to run off to Finland to investigate and get the Finnish 'answer'?  I kinda doubt it.
