Germany and Covid-19: 18 Nov 2020

 1.  Some criticism starting up over this 'suggestion' from the Merkel team over kids in school having just one 'special' friend that they physically hang out with (to prevent more spread of the virus).  Focus talked to a mental health expert, and they kinda condemned the idea.

I suspect around kids (even 10 years old)....they are mostly laughing over the suggestion.  Probably will be some new invented term for 'Merkel-friends'.

2.  Deaths from Covid have 'surged' in my local region of Wiesbaden in the past two weeks.  Over the weekend and through Monday....six more deaths (79 year old woman, 81 year old man, 81 year old woman, 90 year old woman, 87 year old man, and 67 year old man.  Since day one, makes 46 dead out of a city of 293k.  If you do the trend line though....past month has been extremely high trend (most all above 70 years old).

Newly infected since Friday night in the local area?  83.  ICU beds being used currently? 74.

3.  Nationally, roughly 2,000 Germans are being ventilated.

4.  The region of Germany presently with a lesser infection rate?  Far northwest section of country.  Region with high infection rate?  Bavaria.

5.  DHL (the national German delivery service) is considering the purchase of several hundred 'mobile' freezers, that could be used to haul the vaccine around the country for delivery.  Cost factor?  Unknown.  In the end, the government will end up paying a fair sum for delivery.  It should be noted that Fedex is also discussing an angle to distribution.

Where these mobile freezers will come from in such a short period?  That's also an unknown.  If you look at the current plan....the vaccine likely starts up around early January.

6.  German regulations written up....if you are a federal employee traveling by train....then you book for both seats (2 seats for 1 person).  Government now pays for this.  How many are traveling by train? Unknown.  You would think that most people are not thrilled over public transportation travel.
