I sat and watched N-TV news yesterday and this odd Ukraine-Russia story came up.
So the story goes.....via N-TV's journalist in Moscow....Rainer Munz....that in the city, several hundred thousand workers are on 'forced' leave.
BS-factor? I'd give it a '5'.
The problem is....no agency within the city is going to publicly admit the numbers, and even if they did....how accurate are they?
What you'd get for unemployment money? Minimum is 1,500 Rubles per month....$19 in US. Max? 12,800 Rubles ($161).
I paused over the story. If you did work at the airport, or for some tourism operation....yeah, it's very likely that you are on some work-furlough.
Would the unemployment money pay for much? With escalating food prices? No. Course, you could just print more Rubles and inflate things more.
Would this change public perception of the military operation? That's really the big question one has. Course, if the news folks in Moscow say there's no unemployment problem....then, it must be that way. Propaganda goes a long way.
