Five German News Stories

 1.  We had the Frankfurt election yesterday....whether to vote out the mayor (Feldmann) or keep him.  They needed 30 percent of the public to show up.  One odd aspect of the vote.....around 44-percent of folks voted by mail.

Numbers?  Around 42-percent of the registered voters came out......95-percent said 'fire' the mayor.

Mayor says 11th of November will be his last work day.

On weird crap?  This guy went and did a lot of things which got magnified by the general public.  I won't say he was incompetent, but he made some decisions which were plainly stupid.  I'll add this to.....it's just awful rare in German politics where a party or a city council has to go out and terminate a mayor.

2.  Lot of hype over actions at the Amsterdam airport by the teenage climate activist.  N-TV this morning suggested that blockages of German airports might occur this week.

3. Lot of planning going on for the German Christmas market lighting....because of the energy crisis.  Most cities say less lighting will be noticed.

4.  If you haven't paid attention....France's National Front.....run forever by a Le Pen family member....flipped.  New party boss...Jordan Bardella.

Odd aspect?  27 years old and a fairly educated guy, with gifted speaking abilities.  If you asked me.....right-wing copy of Macron and his original gimmick.

5.  Lot of hype showing up over manpower cuts to Meta (Facebook) in German social media.
