Five German News Stories

 1.  World Cup hype?  Dwindling.

ZDF (Channel Two, public TV) tried to conduct a interview with a Qatar official....bringing up their position on gay rights, and it went 'south' (Qatar official laid down the local law/perception).  Homosexuality was described as 'mental damage' by the official.

I would suggest that there is a anti-Qatar and anti-World Cup situation brewing, with the TV audience being nowhere near what it was over the past twenty years.  Whatever the public TV guys paid for the viewing rights for Germany....is a lost cause.

2.  From last week....that Lebanese crime boss that Germany deported in the middle of the night to Beirut?  Well....Lebanese officials have arrested him and thrown the guy into jail.

Charges?  Terrorism and drug trafficking.

Somewhere down the line, this guy will have to settle with Lebanese officials and get some special favors.

3.  431 poll stations in Berlin will run a 2nd attempt at the 2021 Berlin-city election again.  Anyone's guess about who will show for this (to be in spring of 2023).

4.  Pfalz officials are conducting a big investigation of 50 locals on racism/anti-Semitic charges.  State police are in the group being investigated.

5.  Insider sources at the FSB (former KGB) of Russia....now openly chat that the Russia-Ukraine war....for Putin....is 'lost'.
