If You Tried to Conduct a 300,000 Reservist 'Gimmick' In Most Countries

I watched a podcast which briefly touched on the Russian activation of 300,000 reservists.  So they came to this rumor going around....that as men showed up with their letters (demanding their service).....a pretty fair percentage (ranging from one out of four to one out of two)....were in bad enough physical shape....that they were turned down.

I contemplated the rumor (BS factor of '5' on my one to ten scale).

Here's the thing, if you sent out such an order in Germany and said German men who had prior military service (one brief year).....up to age 50....would be recruited....I would agree that probably eighty-five percent would be accepted in their present physical being.

Yeah, 10-percent would fail the physical test because of forty extra pounds of weight....a alcohol problem....or some permanent 'limp'.

Trying to do this in the US?  Maybe a 95-percent acceptance for those under age thirty.  But as you got up to the crowd in the age forty to fifty range?  I'd suggest fewer than one out of three being capable of passing the physical test.

Russians?  I'd suggest fewer than 20-percent of those guys over age of forty are in any shape to hike five kilometers in one day, or being free of alcohol-related problems.

It wouldn't shock me if two out of every ten reservists walking into the station....failed the physical business in a terrible way, and at least two of the accepted reservists were going to be potential heart-attack victims of the war (maybe giving them ten good days of duty before dying in the middle of some field while in a retreat formation).

Statistically trying to figure the life expectancy of a 42-year old fat Russian reservist guy carrying 38 extra pounds on his frame, no longer able to hike 3 km without issues, and having a blood sugar issue?  It's a pretty sad picture to lay out.

Here's the thing.....if we get to early 2023 and it becomes obvious that the war hasn't concluded...do you go to a new reservists call....bringing fresh new people in?
