Trend On Grand Coaltion

By Monday, with the SPD Party folks having voted on the CDU-SPD coalition deal....the 'Grand Coalition' will move forward.  I kinda expect the vote to pass along the lines of 55 percent.  A large percentage of the SPD voters will be frustrated and probably go to seek another party in the future.

So nationally, across all lines, how does it look?  ARD (public TV, Channel One) did the polling.

On the single topic of the expectations for the Grand Coalition:

- Only five-percent of Germans think this is a really good idea.

- Eighteen-percent of Germans think it's a really bad idea.

- Forty-one percent say its just a good-idea only.

- And thirty-four percent say it's neither good or bad.

Compared against the past?  Well....no one is really talking about that.  I would suspect that this is the least popular government over the past dozen elections, and would lead me to wonder just how dramatic the 2021 election will end up being.
