Folks are beginning to focus on the two fall state elections (Hessen and Bavaria). Focus, the German news magazine brought this up today.
The AfD folks (the anti-immigration party) have moved up to 13.5 percent (now making it the number two political party in Bavaria).
The CSU? Still at a remarkable and strong 41.1 percent.
The SPD Party....moving backward to 13.4 percent. The Greens are near 13 percent. The FDP near 4.8 percent (with the 5-percent rule, they may not matter in this election).
As long as the SPD can maintain a ten percent situation....the CSU folks have the potential for a coalition with no major issues. If the SPD were to go down a couple more points, the coalition task becomes more difficult.
The odds that the AfD Party will go up another couple of points by September? I'd say it's decent odds that they will get a minimum of 15 percent in this state election.
