The G7 meeting (held yearly) is mostly worthless but it does get everyone in front of the cameras, and gives the anti-capitalists a chance to riot in the nearby town/city. Some would say both features are positive.
So I would suggest that the G7 business is about to evolve or change. My four observations:
1. If South Korea and North Korea can work out these 'peace' issues, and get some joint trade deal going....within the next five to ten years, they would be a major player on the world economy. You would have to invite Korea (unified) to join up.
2. When you look at Italy, France, the UK and Germany.....their various issues they like to fake people on and make topics for the G7 meeting.....well....most of these are now taken over by the EU, so it makes no sense to discuss these matters. In fact, it'd make more sense to bring in the chief of the EU, than the leaders of these four countries.
3. Why neither Russia or China have a seat? Well....that is a funny question which most intellectuals want to step beyond and pretend that they shouldn't be there.
4. Finally, just about every occasion that this meeting is held.....anti-capitalists show up and cause tens of millions in damage. I'm still waiting to hear which city that President Trump selects for the 2020 episode, that would be held in the US. My guess is virtually every single city....if selected....will take it to court and sue the government to avoid the selection. My humble belief is that it'll end up being a national park.
