Gold Story

This story popped up today via HR (public TV for Hessen) and I'll try to tell the simple version of this.

For some reason (yet to be explained)....police over on the far SE section of Frankfurt pulled over this car.  Two guys (mid 30's) in the car.  Inspection conducted.

There's a backpack in the vehicle, with  nine bars of gold....value of 500,000 Euro.

Badly poured would be the description I'd give (from image on TV).  It'd be like you had your cousin watch the process on YouTube and volunteered to do it for you.

Cops asked where'd it come from....no answer.

Charges?  Well....the prosecutor is going for money-laundering.  Proof?  Virtually none so far.  As long as the two keep quiet....it's hard to see how you'd prove money-laundering in a court.   But the judge will want to know how the gold started out (probably coins).

Claiming they 'found' the money?  I doubt if this works with the court.
