Shutting Off Information Flow

I watch a number of YouTube videos daily...from both Russia and the Ukraine.  They broach a number of topics.  One of the more interesting ones....is the 'little' Russian guy interviewed on the street and asked for an opinion.

So the opinion goes to different things....trust in Putin, trust in the military operation, trust in the economy recovering, trust in the Nazi-story, trust in success from operations in the Ukraine, etc.

In the last week, I'd say various people on the street in Russia have said something to the effect....'they don't know anything much'.

They are hinting (just avoiding the direct or blunt answer) that they don't really believe the Russian theme (state-TV) or the Ukrainian theme (from non-Russian sources).  They believe nothing.

A couple of days ago.....one Russian guy (probably a college student) made the comment that he'd cut off his TV news.  He simply elected to avoid any and all news....didn't matter who it came from.

It's a curious development, and it brings an odd 'path' into the picture.....if you had half of society go and just quit the news....it wouldn't matter what Putin or his state TV journalists did.....no one much would be buying the 'brand'.

There's a lot of effort by the state apparatus....to control the message and ensure that only Putin-approved facts are put out.

So avoiding this entirely....just means society is walking around without much of a care about what happens.  People can blame the Kremlin for this behavior, but it's the easiest fix....just not to believe anything that anyone says.

This whole period to be quickly forgotten?  That's probably the biggest shock.  You might be able in ten years to bring up the invasion and destruction....with half the population of Russia saying they don't remember anything much. That's the reality we live in today.
