Germany And The Turning Of The Page Concept

At the end of WW II....there's this shift that occurs with Germany, and a 'new' Germany emerges (for the sake of the discussion....it's West Germany in a transformation era).

In this era (1960s, 1970s and 1980s).....there's this belief by the new era politicians that arrive in Germany....war is over.  There's simply not going to be another war.

You can laugh over the assumption, but the belief is that enough 'war' has been conducted in WW II....to convince people to just avoid it, and live within a set pattern.

So improved relations between West Germany and the Soviet Union came about.  When the USSR collapsed.....improved German-Russian relations came about.  More trade occurred....treaties occurred....there was this great landscape in front of the general public.

Never mind the poison episodes that occurred....the occasional border wars that Russia conducted....and the blunt chatter that came up yearly by Putin.

In the past month, a number of journalists in Germany have asked the question.....what went wrong?  I would suggest that general belief that all wars had ended, and the world was a safer place.....mostly was fake.  People just couldn't grasp that element of reality.

We've come to a new point now.....what I'd call the 'turning of the page'.   The positive spin crowd is screwed, and there's this harsh reality coming up for a lot of Germans.  The economy is suffering....the food 'chain' is crippled-up to some degree....the delivery of natural gas is questionable for next winter.....fuel is more expensive....and for the first time in thirty-odd years....people have this fear of nuclear war in their mind.

It's a new chapter, and you have to adjust to the next reality.
