I noticed the city of Wiesbaden gave a report out that they were active on the downtown area this past Friday night....with ID checks demanded upon people from 7 PM to 2 AM (Saturday morning).
On the positive side....because of the crappy weather....no one much was out.
An indicator of 'trouble'? Well...if you follow the police blotter....there's no doubt that weekend trouble has doubled up in the past five years.
Drugs, alcohol, just bad behavior? Yeah. I won't even say it's all young guys....there's a couple of events where young women got into assaults, or violent acts as well.
I think the police running the ID thing....are mostly to have a video-meeting and a name attached to that event. So when something occurs four hours later, and the victim describes some idiot in a green jack.....the cops will remember the ID check, and go back to the video and ID the guy.
Similar to the NY City old strategy....'stop-and-frisk'? I would call it 'stop-and-ID'. It's putting a notion into your head that they ID'ed you in the downtown area and there's some log being kept with your name....that you were at such-and-such street at 11:35 PM. If you were that stupid to get drunk at midnight and trigger a fight....the cops have a pretty easy task in settling the case by sun-up.
