Well, there is a discussion going on between Germany and the EU itself about dumping the 1-cent and 2-cent pieces.
Reasoning? People hate using them, and the cost of making them.....is more than the value of the coin itself.
I have a coffee cup in the kitchen where I dump the 1-cent and 2-cent pieces, and about every six months....the wife goes to dump them into a machine at some grocery.....to get 'credit'.
In an average month....I might open up my pocket on one occasion and pay partially with the coins, but it's awful rare.
