The Logical Questions In The Ukraine - Russia 'War'

 My wife (German in nature), probably watches at least twelve hours of German news per week, and this 'war' business probably consumes 40-percent of the news content.  At least once per week, she asks the question....why doesn't Putin use nukes?  

I usually respond with three answers.  First, he doesn't want a massive escalation to a 10-day war (now going on 200-odd days).  Second, as crappy as things have gone.....if he did use a nuke, would it actually go off?  Then finally, I suggest if Putin dropped 'one'....Ukraine might retaliate with 'one' as well.  

But then the next question pops up occasionally....are there actual Nazis in Ukraine?  

This gets to be more difficult to answer....in that you have to tell the 1930s history in Ukraine and how rough things were.  So when the German Nazis arrived, and were anti-USSR....Ukrainians felt a bond with them because they had become anti-USSR as well.  This is hard for Germans to grasp.

Another question that pops up occasionally.....when a German realizes there are Oligarch folks not only in Russia, but also in the Ukraine.  The question is usually phrased....aren't they all the same greedy 'bastards'?  

Then the question of 'who is going to pay for all the damage' comes.  This is usually when video clips come up with bridges destroyed, and apartment buildings blown-up.
