How Electrical Prices Look In Germany

Well....ARD, Channel One from public TV, had a segment today.

If you look at pricing for 2021 and 2021....it's escalated around 10-percent.

How it looks toward a year in the future (fall, 2023)?  The experts say a 60-percent increase is likely to occur.

This discussion of a 'brake' on pricing?  Well....the government suggests it will exist.  How it will function?  Unknown.

Presently, the cost per home?  An average house (non-electric heat and no AC) pays in the range of 75 to 90 Euro.  So a 10-percent swing up, is not a big deal.  A 60-percent swing?  It brings it to the 130 Euro range.

Will Germans consume more power, by lessening their use of natural gas, and upping electrical heat in homes?  Well....that's the great fear going on.  So you might wake up in spring of 2023....now realizing the new bill is closer to 250 to 300 Euro a month....because half your heat was electrical in nature.

In my house presently, it's about 98-percent natural gas heated.....with one smaller electrical wattage heater in the bathroom to supplement the small radiator there, and a small heater unit in the living room for the 8 PM to 11 PM period of night.  On the plus-side, the renovation from five years ago with new air-tight windows and doors....is a major benefit.
