I sat and watched N-TV news this AM. The big item? Well....Germans in general....have figured a way to cut consumption of natural gas.
The amount being talked about? 19-percent less consumption.....at this point....compared to a year ago....for industry.
For home consumption (up to September)? It's around 36-percent less.
All of this done without government mandates? That's the 'jest' of the whole story, I think.
If you walk into a German cafe or bakery area....you can generally tell that the temperature is two to four degrees (C) less than it might be normally.
For my house? Other than a night or two over the past month, the heat has not clicked on. I admit we have a electric space heater in the bathroom, and it's probably run for 15 minutes each morning....beyond that....zero use.
Unusual weather for September/October? That's part of the story as well. Yesterday was warm enough to wear shorts outside, and I mowed the grass for one final time in 2022. However, if the forecasts are correct....by Friday....it'll be fairly chilly for the whole day.
