Germany and Covid-19: 6 Nov 2020

 1.  New infections in Germany over past 24 hours (as of last night): 17,975.  Deaths in this same 24-hour period?  91

In my local Wiesbaden area (293k residents): new infections for that same 24 hour period: 94.  Total death count since day one: 32.

2.  Interesting study reviewed on N-TV this morning.  The Tropical Institute down in Munich completed this review and basically said....a large number of local folks there...had Covid-19 antibodies in their system, but had never tested positive, or had never tested.

The number?  Four times the tested number for the region.  This would suggest that for each person tested and confirmed....sent onto quarantine at home or the hospital....that there are four more people who apparently had light symptoms and felt it was a cold or light flu.

It begs a lot of questions, and maybe will trigger another study across a wider segment of society.

3.  New Covid-19 antibodies test now sold online by DM (German drug store).  Fifty-nine Euro.  You get the kit.....throw some spit into the tube, and mail it to this testing company.

4.  N-TV reports this morning that the experts who control/run the intensive care units throughout Germany....now suggest that 'business' will double in the next ten days....meaning that most all ICU beds in Germany will occupied.

If you look at the graphic chart they have up....roughly 11 districts are down to five-percent of their ICU beds left to be filled.  The bulk of these districts are in Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg area.  The general plan....as openly discussed over past month....when you start hitting maximum capacity....elective surgical procedures will end, and those beds will convert over to ICU area.  The other thing discussed....people will start to be transported to clinics/hospitals....that might be an hour or more away from their home-region.

The site I noted for N-TV, has a lot of good graphical data, and is a good read.
