Local Story

Today, I caught up on local/regional news here in Hessen (my local German state).

So there's this odd story laying out there from last night.  Apparently near midnight....this mother came up with the idea of killing her 15-year-old son....in the house.  No one says the logic or reason.  Maybe 'Junior' said something to rile her up, or criticized her weight, or he just show a lack of 'respect'.  That part of the story is missing.

Based on what the police say....with a butcher knife, she tried to kill him and somehow....he prevented some of the attack.  Cops got the call and arrived.

The mother has some pretty serious knife wound (in intensive care, but will survive).  The kid is doing ok, not as bad as her wound.

But here's the rest of this story.....two years ago, this same woman tried to kill 'junior' (age 13 then), apparently with a knife as well.

'Junior' survived that attack (cops don't go into many details about that incident).  Mom went off to psychiatric care.  The police don't say how long....might have been six months....maybe twelve months.  But at the end of this....she convinced the doctors that she was all 'healed-up' and 'safe'.

Had this been me....after surviving the first attack, and some state social worker suggesting to put me and mom back into the same home environment....I would have said 'no way'.  I'd have to lock the bedroom door nightly and worry about her missing her medication.

What happens now?  I'm guessing six months of some enclosed clinic time, and some social worker wanting the kid to occasionally talk to mom.  A third attempt to put the kid and mom into the same house?  I'd be shaking my head, but it's probably a likely scenario.
