Theater Chatter in Germany

My regional public TV network (HR) did a full report over the financial 'ruin' going on with theaters (Kinos) in the state.

They went to one company that operates 17 theaters across Germany.  So over the first ten months of the year....business is down by 65 percent.

At the current pace, this company is expecting a 75-percent loss of profits against 2019, as the year closes out.

In simple terms, they are on cash reserves.

So you go and examine December.  This is typically a big month for German theaters, and during the holiday season....a lot of Germans spend time at theaters.  This year?  There's this fear that the shut-down will extend through all of December.

My gut feeling?  Unless state 'grants' are handed out....I don't expect half of these theaters to be around by mid-summer 2021.
