I sat this morning looking at a curious piece off N-TV news here in Germany. The topic? Elementary schools in failure mode around Germany.
So to the top four things:
1. Roughly 20-percent of kids in the German school system have a language and math problem.
2. Some of this issue relates to a national shortage of teachers.
3. One in four German kids....in the age group of 7 to 10 years old....have a higher risk of mental health issues.
4. Some of these issues go to a larger concentration of migrant kids in the mix....which is something that that schools didn't have to contend with twenty years ago.
Bad news? I think it's only the hyper headlines. In a way....money isn't the fix-all solution here....you'd have to increase man-hours in school....find more teachers....and build a system around the migrant-kids (admitting that current system isn't strong enough to handle things).
To be honest, with a fair amount of disrespect in the system....I don't think a lot of folks are dreaming of a teaching job in their future.
