The Seven Components of Brain-Washing

For a number of years, I worked around the intelligence field, and we'd have these odd conversations in the various vaults.....about how society or cultures shift their perception, or how revolutions fall into play.  In most of these developments....brain-washing of some type falls into play.  So my list:

1.  Guilt dished out.  It's where you can convince people....smart people or naïve people....that they did something to deserve blame or earned a problem. It doesn't matter if the problem really exists or not....it's just that you feel guilt at the end of the sequence.

2.   At some point after the guilt business starts up....it helps to get you to a betrayal situation....like you failed the team....you failed the society....you failed some victim along the way.

3.  Some people will walk into your situation, and then ask if you want forgiveness.  It's like a Catholic Church moment....if you could just confess your feelings....maybe you'd get forgiveness.  The fact that forgiveness might not exist, or this might only be a fragile forgiveness?  Well...yeah....that's part of the brain-wash.

4.  Conveying your guilt trip into secondary layers?  That's also an element of the brain-wash.  Maybe you felt guilty over x-type of guilt, and the other party is now at your door.....asking if you felt guilty over y-type or z-type guilt.

5.  There will always be this great moment of 'harmony' existing.....that once you got over x-guilt...it's all fine at the end of pain you are suffering.  Tomorrow?  Well...there's new fresh guilt to linger, and a fresh new 'harmony' to aim for.

6.  It helps to isolate the individual, making them think no one will help or understand your guilt problem.

7.  Finally, it always helps to tear apart your identity.  If someone can convince the victim group that they lost their identity, or they can't be x-person.....then they are forced into a certain mindset of change.

The sad thing....every single day, via social media, the news, and a hundred different elements....our trust is challenged and we are tested on some form of brain-washing.  Some may seem to be right-wing, left-wing or just some weird position that wasn't on your top 500 'worries' of the day.
