Back in the 1973 era of West Germany, there was a national push to have 'car-free-Sundays'.....meaning that only emergency vehicles and essential workers were out in their cars driving around.
There is social media chatter today....suggesting the necessity to bring this era back....to lessen the cost impact of gas/diesel on the public.
Crazy talk? Well...it made sense in the 1973/1974 period....only because of the shortage of fuel. In this modern era, there is no shortage.....it's just that fuel has risen to a level where it's ultra expensive. To fuel up my Audi A5....figure 40 liters....at 2.05 per liter for E-10 fuel....82 Euro or $90.
Personally, I can't see the majority of Germans of today....agreeing to this. Will this be openly discussed in the Bundestag? My humble belief is yes....with the Greens pushing this agenda item.
