It is a bit of humor piece but true.
ARD (public TV in Germany, Channel One) has foreign correspondents. One of them is Stefan Niemann. He does 'expert-commentary' on the White House and DC political happenings.
Stefan actually lives in DC itself.
So, Stefan in the past week....has gotten three mail-in official ballots for the 2020 American election. Yes.....actual ballots in the mail.
Ballot number one: A DC resident who rented this apartment that Stefan rents....from five years ago. (hint: the guy has been out of the condo for five years)
Ballot number two: It's for the landlord or owner of the condo.....who lives mostly in Puerto Rico right now.
Ballot number three: It's for the landlord's dead husband.
So you sit and think about this. Stefan is an honest guy, but a German citizen. He shouldn't have gotten the ballots. Then you consider....dead guy getting a ballot? Then you got the DC resident who hasn't lived in the condo in five years? Yeah....it's pretty screwed up.
The odds of something like this happening in Germany? Almost zero.
