It Used To Be Quiet

I live in a quiet village on the outskirts of Wiesbaden.  On the quiet scale, it's a ten.

The police get maybe three break-in calls per year, out of a village with 800-odd residences. Maybe four to five times a year, some fire will start up, with the fire department called out.

Early this AM today, some German gal walked out of her place on the main drag of the village, at 4 AM. A minute or two passes, and she is confronted on the street by a guy grabbing at the purse.  With streetlights blazing away, its hard to 'hide.

She fights the guy off....he slaps her....she goes to maximum resistance (I'm guessing she gave him a knee to a 'tender-spot'). The guy finally runs off, without the purse.

Cops called....don't ever find the guy. Course, it it is around 4 AM, and you don't normally have much activity going on. Bus service? Not until 5:05 AM.

The thing about this, it'll stir up the locals and women will start carrying hammers or mace-gas in their purses.

It used to be a quiet village, but I guess that went away.
