Liebig 34 Action in Berlin

Video feed has stared, if you go to view N-TV in Germany.

House-clearing will start at Liebig 34 in the Friedrichshain neighborhood of Berlin.

What this deal is about?  Some far-left activists did a contract to lease a crapped-up apartment building in the Lebig street area.  Based on video of the interior and exterior....on a scale of one to ten....the place is marginally at a two.  It needs tons of work.

The owner of the building leased it twelve years ago....for a ten-year lease.  No one says money involved, but it has to be next to nothing.  Two years ago....the lease ended, and the occupants all refused to leave.  For two years, court-action continued on, and finally....they were served with papers to leave.  They refuse....so today....roughly 3,000 police are being sent to the building.

Is it that bad?

ARD (Channel One, public TV) ran the news show Kontraste last night.  It's a once-a-week show, which is done out of the RBB studios in Berlin.  Typically, they do hard-hitting journalism stories on politics in Germany.  So last night, they picked up the Lebig-34 story.

What the far leftists who occupies the structure did over the past dozen years in the neighborhood....was to antagonize the locals (their neighbors).  They did it in hundreds of different ways.....damage to windows, roughly people up, intimidating folks, etc.

In a way, they wanted confrontation.

Somewhere in the middle of this....the Green Party and Linke Party occupied a position...somewhat in supporting the radical view.  By doing this....this also antagonized the neighborhoods, and has created a serious amount of friction.  The fact that the fall 2021 Berlin 'state' election is coming around and this 'help' for the extremists is on the minds of residents?  Well....it doesn't help matters.

The current city government in Berlin...from the 2016 election?  The SPD run the government, under a umbrella of SPD-Greens-Linke.  Whether they like to admit it or not....the SPD hasn't exactly won points over this this far left situation on Liebig 34 and the residents.  All of this has an affect on the state election for next year.

So, settle back today and watch the confrontation.
