Germany and Covid-19: 9 Oct 2020

 1.  The German Federal Minister of Research (Anja Karliczek) said yesterday....that a vaccine for Covid-19 probably won't be in the public domain until mid-2021.  If you went and figured the 'rush' and the limited production schedule....most Germans won't be able to get the vaccination until late 2021....meaning a full year away from now.  One could see 10-percent of the German population still waiting in January 2022....to get their shot.

2.  The 4,000 new infections per day hit yesterday?  Yeah.  A lot will be said over the next week, if the rate doesn't decline or level-off.  More shut-down chatter?  More than likely, and probably a third of German society won't be happy about that suggestion.

3.  Autumn travel in Germany?  Man, this looks pretty dismal unless you intend to RV it, or camp out.  Other states are adapting the Bavarian ban-rule....if you came from near a hot-zone....either you show a test result of negative, or you don't check into a Bavarian hotel.

4.  Four districts of Berlin are now considered 'hot-spots': Mid-town, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Neukölln.  There's talk of extremely stringent ban rules coming up next week if a downward trend doesn't show soon.  The accusation going on?  The party-scene in town is driving the extreme rate of infection....so there's likely to be very harsh measures coming on legal and illegal parties.
