Pope Calls for Christian 'Mobs'?

Well....in the Wednesday address to the public in Rome....the Pope said: “How much we are in need of believers, of zealous Christians, who act before people with leadership responsibility with the courage of Elijah, to say, ‘This must not be done! This is murder!"

This 'speech' went on for a while with 'Bible-lesson-chatter' and then ended with a prayer.

Normally, I don't pay much attention to news out of the Vatican.  In this case, it's a moment worth pondering.....that we've reached some stage where mob-Christians are being called upon.

Mob-action is something that you see a good bit these days.  There are historical occasions where mobs turn into revolutions, and bad things get settled (folks would say that in El Salvador and Nicaragua).

There are also occasions where mob-actions turn a two-star mess....into a four-star mess...improving nothing and simply making the public twice as frustration.

But I sat over this and kept thinking....where exactly have Christian-mobs ever played a role in history?  Catholic mobs in the 1500s?  Well....that was the start of the Thirty-Years War, and helped to kill off 50-percent of the population in central Europe by the end.

It's an odd discussion and I doubt if anyone really wants to imagine such a mob-action taking place.
