The 3,000-odd police force showed up in Berlin, and efficiently removed the 60-odd squatters in the building. I essayed a description of the episode from two days ago.
Afterwards, a few photo-journalists got a chance to walk through.
Based on pictures....I'd say the place is pretty crapped out on the interior.
As for this being the end? No.....RBB (local public TV) says that car-burnings and rock-throwing took place last night (Friday night). Shop and car windows were broken as well.
Based on social media commentary....it would appear that a fair number of the residents of the area....are very much negative about the leftist group, their agenda, and the attached political parties (Green/Linke). This whole episode has probably trimmed a quarter of the votes possible for the two parties for next year's election.
Making the case for property speculation or affordable housing? No....that agenda didn't sell well to the public.
