Germany and Covid-19: 13 Oct 2020

1.  Roughly 3,800 new infections reported for Monday (yesterday) in Germany.

2.  US guy reported in the German news with Covid-19 (x) and around six weeks later....infected with Covid-19 (y).  Yes, two different varying Covid-19 strains.  Luckily, he's 25 years old, but here on the 2nd bout, he's been put in the hospital and gotten onto a ventilator.

3.   Focus brought up this update on Czech ban rules.....you can't have a group meeting with more than six individuals.  Consumption of alcohol in a public setting?  Now forbidden.....you have sip your beer or booze quietly in your house or apartment.

4.  Hotels in the Pfalz are bitterly complaining over the new ban rules, on people who come from a hot-zone requiring a no-Corona test.  Lots of cancellations being reported by the hotels, and it's creating a wave of unease over the economic future.

5.  Focus reported this AM that four districts out of Berlin are so overwhelmed with new cases of Covid-19....that they cannot administer the contact program or carry out normal health-functions.  This comes out of some internal federal document that the news media got their hands onto.

6.  Berlin City is reporting almost 300 police officers are now on quarantine.

7.  N-TV had a brief chat with the head guy of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Gassen) who openly commented that these new rapid antigen tests which are being used at sporting/public events.....were mostly "science fiction" (exact quotes from his commentary).  I don't think he meant to slam the tests but he's basically saying they are over-sold on what they claim.

8.  The German Bundesliga (the national soccer league) is admitting problems with the hygiene rules put into place and being able to carry live camera feeds of the games.  Based on the rules now in place.....unless this new rapid antigen test scheme is put into place and mandated....the games on TV are now a question-mark.
