The Fake Ticket Story

Almost on a daily basis....a new 'scam' is being developed and released upon the German public.

This morning, if you view SWR (public TV from the SW of Germany).....this interesting story popped up.

German woman had called the police and was concerned over the parking ticket she'd been given, it's amount, and I assume she wanted to break it into monthly payments.

The police listened to her story, and here's the problem....she was cited for parking illegally, for a fine of 280 Euro.  They scratched their heads over this.....there might be some blockages of fire lanes in cities like Hamburg or Frankfurt, where you'd get a stiff Euro fine.  But this is Loerrach....a town of 228k residents on the far extreme SW corner of Germany.

So they dug into this, and finally came to this conclusion....it was a false traffic ticket.  Yes, fake.  The police didn't issue it.

There was a bank transfer listing on the fake ticket, and one would imagine if the culprit had made this 25 Euro....most folks would have just accepted this and transferred the money to the criminal.

So the police are openly discussing the fake ticket and the things you can look for....to see if this is real or fake.

But this brings one to the harsh reality in 2020 and living in Germany....virtually every single day....some guy is working on a scheme to rip you off for some Euro.

My question? Up until this point...how many tickets have people paid which were fake tickets?  A hundred?  A thousand?  Ten-thousand?
