Germany and Covid-19: 15 Oct 2020

 1.  New infections for 14 Oct?  6,638.  It's a trend line going upward and worrying political leadership around the country.  Area more affected the rest of the country?  NW Germany (the state of NRW).

2. Another meat-processing plant (this one in Bavaria) has been identified as a hot-spot.

3.  This 'summit' held by Merkel, with the coalition partners, and the leadership of the states....marginally achieved much of anything.  The states did not want to give authority to the federal government.  It was agreed on limiting people at public gatherings or parties.  It also was agreed upon that if you met the threshold of serious numbers on infection....bar and restaurant curfews would be mandated by a national rule (rather than a city-by-city situation). The hour of shutdown?  11 PM.

4.  An illegal party (without collection of personal data) was identified in Bavaria as the point where 20-odd people were tested positive (150-odd guests).  Legal consequences likely to come out of this for the guy who planned it.

5.  The odds of the daily infection rate hitting 10,000-plus?  As the trend line is developing....unless something serious happens, I'd say it'll be within three weeks, and another round of Merkel meetings with the leadership of the sixteen states will likely occur.

The only people uttering 'shutdown' are journalists.  I think most German business operators will tell you that they can't go and enter another shut-down phase for 90 days.
