I sat and watched German N-TV news this afternoon. It got to this confusing story, which I ended watching a second time, and having to read through the piece to ensure I understood the jest of this.
Three weeks ago in the western part of Germany, near the Ahr Valley region.....a flood occurred. Pretty harsh deal....people reported dead and missing.
So, 141 dead. 141 recovered bodies.
HOWEVER....ten weren't flood victims. So this story got fairly tangled up.
What the police now say is that eight were either dead before the flood, or buried like a day or two before the flood. Yes, they were dead already.....just recovered from the operations.
Then there's two other bodies....which had nothing to do with the flood. They simply committed suicide after the flood wrapped up. Yes, it was a fairly big shock to them, and they simply couldn't handle the stress involved.
The dead folks getting another certificate of death? I doubt it, but you can imagine recovery operations, and trying to get some relative to come down and ID a body....which they'd buried days before. Normal folks would have been shaking their head and in an uneasy situation when a phone call like that occurs.
