This AM, one can state four events so far:
1. The first Bundeswehr plane to land at the Kabul airport.....actually came close to being out of fuel after continually being refused access to the airport. Five hours, he circled the airport, then they gave permission.
2. From the list group of 150-odd people who were approved to leave....only seven were there. The seven boarded, and the plane took off immediately. Yeah, it was basically an empty plane for the most part.
3. Seehofer (Interior Minister) figures somewhere between 300k and 5-million Afghans are going to escape the country, and head 'somewhere'. A Spiegel journalist said something to the effect that previously....Iran and Pakistan had been open to such refugees. Whether that same past history reoccurs, is anyone's guess.
4. There is some talk that the Central Bank of Afghanistan....had the bulk of it's reserves in the US. Amount? Well, the rumor-mill says 'billions'. I would imagine getting access to it will be impossible for the new government.
