So, about 3 weeks ago in Germany....the Transport Ministry went and wrapped up a App project. It was released to the public.
The App? Well....it was supposed to tell you....minute-by-minute, project-by-project....areas on the autobahns where renovation was taking place. It also told you about accident points, staus, detours, etc.
Cost? 1.2-million Euro.
The thing is.....most all of this information is already on Google maps.
Maybe five years ago....Google maps was behind on some things, but if you go and really jump into it.....they tell you about the construction areas, detours, etc.
Even my Audi-maps (built into the A5) offers the same service (it isn't free, I should note).
Total waste of tax revenue? Well...yeah. But it's best you don't mention this to your German associate.
