Bridges

I was watching a short piece on N-TV news (commercial news, Germany) where they got around to talking over the condition of bridges in Germany, and the Autobahn Gmbh (holding responsibility for autobahn bridges) came up and said that 3,000 bridges are in need of renovation/replacement.

Money being a problem?  Well....yeah.

One of the general problems to this.....there's X-plan for just renovation, and Y-plan for total replacement.....meaning a longer planning period and drafting up a way for drivers to still make some marginal use of the remaining bridge.

Where would the extra money come from?  Probably more taxes somewhere down the road.

Around the Kaiserslautern region, there was a particular autobahn bridge in serious need of replacement, and if you counted from day one on.....it took almost six years for the whole thing to be replaced (finished).
