For decades, the environmentalist hype in Germany was anti-nuclear-power. They had symbiology. They had speeches which drilled down into a non-nuclear Germany one day. In their mind, every single nuclear plant had to be shut down.
About four years ago, with the Fukushima business in the landscape.....Chancellor Merkel pushed an agenda that would finally take down all of the nuclear plants in Germany. 2022 is the point where the final plant will shut down.
So, science-wise.....this oddball thing has come up in the past decade. On the most-evil list....coal-power plants are worse than nuke-power plants. In fact, since C02 is the chief problem presently.....most scientists have refocused on the nuke plants and suggested that it's better to keep and run them....than coal plants.
Focus brought up this topic yesterday, and there is a EU-level debate going on.....with this really crazy idea that the EU would bless nuke plants to continue on. Yeah, there's going to be a lot of stressed-out Germans over this plan.
CO2-neutral? Well....yeah, that's really a big deal now, when you talk energy, and nuke-power delivers that.
More safety added to designs over the past decade? You could make that case as well.
What happens if the EU picks up the subject and passes legislation that all members of the EU are authorized nuke-power? It's hard to figure how the Germans will react.
We are about ten years away from where coal-plants would be shutdown in Germany, and the current wind-generator recycle/lifecycle has crapped out (very few new wind-generators being installed presently). All of this makes one ask the question....will the German grid exist to bring non-German power into the country in the 2030s?
