Germany's Lack of Truck Drivers?

N-TV did a good report on this and is worth a review.

The experts say Germany is short about 60k to 80k drivers.

Key issues?  N-TV says around 30k German truckers retire each year and presently....only 15k new truckers come onto the scene.

The training about this?  Well....most of the present older German truckers would tell you that they got their license while in the German Army....but in the past decade or two....with fewer people being taken in....there are fewer people getting their license via this method.

Cost of a typical license?  Around 10,000 Euro.

All of this leading to more non-German drivers?  Well, after you review their report....it's hard to see Germans continuing to fill the job because of the pay and general conditions of the job.

Covid affecting things?  This is the license problem....where a number of trainers cut down contact and face-to-face contact decreased.
