Back in the early 1800s....in the UK, there was a notable heat wave which was discussed for several decades.
From the second week of July 1808....for about four days, everyone suffered. Folks would suggest it started around the 12th, and ended around the 16th. London? On the books, it's noted at 38 C (100 F), and there's one measurement around which showed a peak of 40 C (105 F).
How'd it come to end? Well....a front came in with thunder and lightning. The area around Sommerset even had a story of one foot of hail on the ground as the storm ended.
