Focus brought up an interesting topic.....they went and did a survey of Germans via Forsa polling (a fairly reliable poll company).
With all of the hype of the past month with anti-Covid-19 demonstrations....the vast majority of Germans (87-percent) say that the folks in the demonstrations ONLY represent a smaller minority of society.
Now, once you get to the typical AfD voter, it's a different story (marginally)....two-thirds of these voters think the opinion of the demonstrators is representing the vast amount of society.
Then you come to the interesting part of the whole survey....roughly 93-percent of Germans admit that they have no grasp or understanding of the demonstrations.
Even with all hype that you see via public TV (both ARD and ZDF blasting away), and various public chat forums trying to engage on the topic....the vast majority of Germans are simply gazing through the mess, and don't care.
This knee-jerk reaction by the politicians? I think the images used with the right-wing business and neo-Nazi stuff....in front of the Bundestag....has triggered them into reacting. It's likely within six months that a whole section of this area around the Bundestag will be 'walled-off', and represent more of a fortress than a place of democracy.
So....a story that concerns no German really, and about 'nothing'? More or less. The AfD voters may be hyped up, but they are mostly by themselves on this one.
