Unemployment Story

I've essayed a bit over the approaching unemployment problems approaching and this week....the Karben company of Germany announced it's termination plan.  Our regional news....HR....covered the announcement.

Karben is a company under the car parts supplier Continental.

The total number employed?  1,100 workers.

The plant itself?   The full-closure will occur in 2024, but there will be gradual numbers of people let go...some starting in the spring of 2021.

Part of this story goes back before Covid-19 even arrived, and the newer types of parts required for electric cars....versus gas/diesel vehicles.  You simply don't need as many parts.

As the company says....Covid-19 simply speeded up the process of the plan.

You can expect monthly announcements like this across Germany over the next couple of years.
