Covid Chatter for Today

A draft came out to the public and news sources today....of how the fall period will be handled with Covid.  Focus carried a pretty decent layout:

1.  Free Covid tests gone.  If you need a test....you the private citizen will pay for it.  Presently at 18 Euro per person....I expect some of these operations to continue on...just at a lower rate (maybe 10 to 12 Euro).  Some of these quickie-test centers were making a unimaginable amount of money each month.

2.  Proof of vaccination, recovered status, or a test status will be required to enter any store (including pharmacy operations, shoe stores, grocery operations, bike shops, etc).

The suggestion is that some will have guards to do this (8-Euro an hour cheapo guards or some kind of scanner with an arm to swing up and allow you in).

All of this monitoring to cost companies more?  WELL....yeah.  The fact that the guards will be 90-percent migrants and marginally able to read read German or not trained to recognize fraudulent vaccination records?  Please don't bring this up to the Germans.

3.  The mask business?  Well...the CDU Health Minister says that the mask will go away after the spring of 2022.  Will people just cooperate and quit the mask?

I use the Wiesbaden Army Commissary, where for a year....the mask business was pretty strict.  Then two months ago...I stood there....after walking in and suddenly realized out of twenty folks in the fruit area....I was the only one wearing a mask.

I think a majority of Germans would just give up the mask if the mandate went away.  Maybe a quarter of them....will never quit (going on for the rest of their lives with a mask in stores).

Acceptance of the changes?  Nothing is clear.  The CDU would have to have the SPD (their partner) agree.  Some of these things aren't supported by the SPD (they've suggested the mask go away a lot sooner).  Testing going away (free tests)?  Several parties have said that free testing should stay for the time being.

This thing of the door-guard at stores?  I am kinda amused by the idea.  Imagine Christmas shopping and seventy people standing at the entrance of a shop to get in.....waiting for Huns or Haji to read your shot record.  This idea I see being attempted and six weeks later being dumped because of customer frustrations throughout Germany.  Add to the mess....just because you get a vaccination....does NOT mean you are free from Covid for the rest of your life, or even for the next six months.  You could have twenty folks at the doorway of a grocery, all vaccinated, waved in and half coughing with some form of Covid.
