Germany and Covid-19: 7 August 2021

 1.  Last night, public TV news brought up an interesting slide on the incidence rate.  They took the trend line of where Covid was in 2020 (for that day) and the trend line where it was in 2021.  Right now....it's three times higher than in 2020.  I looked at just my district (Wiesbaden) and it now rates at 100,000 residents around 33.0, which is pretty low (compared against March/April numbers) but it probably worries some folks.

2.  From my district (Wiesbaden), with 293,000 residents....the total infection number since day one is 13,406, with 280 deaths.

3.  Where the vaccination business stands?  As of today, around 62.2 percent are done with the first shot, and 54.1 percent on the second shot.  If you were doing the trend line....it's slightly lessened in the past four weeks.  It's anyone's guess where it'll be at the end of August.

Last year, the hint by the Health Minister was that herd immunity would occur with two-thirds of the nation immunized, and it'd happen by the end of summer vacation (meaning the last of August).
