Summer Chatter

Years ago, via German public TV....there's this trend that started up during the summer vacation period.  German politicians were invited to come on and give a 40 to 60 minute 'talk'.

Lets be honest, summer rerun periods with the public TV folks and the commercial TV networks.....is crap.  So these interviews (typically one to two moderators, and one single politician) were the only fresh/new 'entertainment' on TV.

How many Germans watched these?  That is up for debate.  When the Chancellor would give his/her summer interview....there probably were a fair number of Germans to watch the episode.

This year?  It's expanded out....even the German commercial news networks are carrying these, along with the normal commercial entertainment networks.

In the past week, I would take a guess that at least seven hours have been programmed this way.

Too much chatter?  Some folks might go and suggest that.  It's not like you are discovering anything new with politics in Germany.

The one positive?  In another two to three weeks....summer basically comes to an end, and the political chatter will lessen back to a normal level.
