1. France gave the 'leave-Russia' message out for French citizens at around 9 AM, if you have no necessity in being there. If you had valid reasons to stay, the message says to contact the embassy and register yourself (meaning that some warning might come shortly for the next step).
So far, at least demonstrated in Afghanistan, the French have been generally ahead of the game and I would speculate they figure things will evolve over March to a worse position.
2. Former German Chancellor Schroeder's benefits coming to an end? Well....there's talk (Tax Payer Association) that he's not supporting the German position, and these benefits going beyond the pension deal....ought to come to an end. An extremely pro-Russia position? Some people are going back to thirty years ago and suggesting he's been tangled up with the Russians.
3. The IfW folks (institute for economic matters here in Germany) say that Russia has a serious decline going on, and 10-percent of its economy may collapse by the end of 2022. In a trade war....they cannot win.
4. Former French President Hollande spoke up today and said natural gas purchases from Russia have to end.....no matter how much pain/suffering the Germans have to endear. For the rest of 2022....probably zero chance of that.
